Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the state will ensure the people of Kashmir are given full opportunity to freely exercise their democratic rights.

Islamabad: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the state will ensure the people of Kashmir are given full opportunity to freely exercise their democratic rights.

He made these remarks in a statement issued on current security and political developments.

Khawaja Asif said that police and security personnel have been martyred in recent incidents. He also claimed that the bodies of security personnel were desecrated. He said such acts clearly show that certain elements are rejecting the democratic and electoral process.

He added that those who try to impose their views through violence and killings do not represent public opinion. According to him, such actions reflect intentions that are not linked to democratic participation or elections.

The defence minister said that the state strongly rejects violence and anti-state activities. He emphasized that individuals or groups involved in such actions are working against national stability and public order.

He further stated that the government will enforce the law with full strength against any anti-state agenda. He said that no one will be allowed to undermine peace or security through violence.

Khawaja Asif reiterated that the state remains committed to ensuring a democratic environment. He said that Kashmiri people will be able to freely express their will without fear, pressure, or coercion.

He added that the government believes in democratic processes and wants people to decide their future through peaceful and lawful means rather than violence.

The statement comes amid ongoing tensions, where officials continue to emphasize both security measures and commitment to democratic rights in the region.
