The sighting came during Starship’s first successful orbital flight on Monday, when the spacecraft also deployed 26 Starlink V3 satellites.

Images and video clips of the object circulated on social media, with some users suggesting it could have been a large spacecraft or “UFO mothership.” Others proposed more conventional explanations, including ice, rocket exhaust or debris associated with the launch.

“They just livestreamed what looks like a ‘UFO mothership’ trailing Starship over Texas,” one user wrote on X. Another posted: “I think we all just saw a UFO live-streamed.”

Other users questioned the object’s apparent movement and asked SpaceX to identify it.

Michael Salla, an author who writes about alleged secret space programs, also described the object as a possible UFO and linked it to the unverified “Solar Warden” conspiracy theory. His claims have not been independently substantiated.

There is no verified evidence that the object was an alien spacecraft or that it was connected to any secret space program. A report by the International Business Times noted that viewers had also suggested rocket exhaust or material associated with the launch as possible explanations.

Neither SpaceX nor NASA has publicly identified the object in the footage. NASA, however, praised the Starship launch on X, describing it as a “Gorgeous launch” and commending the mission’s execution.

Starship Flight 14 launched from SpaceX’s Starbase facility in Texas on Monday and became the first Starship mission to reach Earth orbit. The mission was shortened after an engine problem, but the spacecraft completed its orbital insertion and deployed its 26-satellite payload.
