Former National Assembly member Sardar Akhtar Mengal has returned Rs7.89 million to the National Assembly Secretariat after his resignation was officially accepted.
The National Assembly Secretariat confirmed that all official facilities and privileges linked to Mengal’s parliamentary membership have been withdrawn following the completion of the resignation process.
According to officials, Mengal sent a cheque worth Rs7.892 million to the Secretariat, and the amount has been formally received.
Mengal had resigned from his National Assembly seat representing NA-256 Khuzdar on September 3, 2024. His resignation was later approved by the Speaker of the National Assembly on February 11, 2026.
The approval was made effective from the date of his resignation submission, meaning his membership was considered ended from September 3, 2024.
Following the acceptance of the resignation, the National Assembly Secretariat took steps to cancel the benefits and facilities provided to him as a lawmaker.
The return of the amount and withdrawal of privileges completed the official procedures related to the end of his tenure as a member of the National Assembly.
