Murree is overcrowded these days. Every hotel board says “No Room Available.” Every guest house is full of tourists escaping the heat. In the middle of this hustle, in a small, quiet room of a private guest house, a transgender person was murdered and no one heard a scream.

The victim had checked in two days ago. Alone. According to police sources, the staff saw the person going in and out, but no one kept a close record of who was meeting them. On the third day, when the room remained locked for a long time and there was no response to repeated knocking, the management opened the door. Inside, the body was lying in a pool of blood with the throat slit by a sharp-edged weapon.

This is the latest tragic incident from Murree, and it has raised serious questions about safety, regulation, and vulnerability.

What Police Has Found So Far

District Police Murree immediately cordoned off the crime scene. A forensic team was called in to collect evidence.

Talking exclusively to Minute Mirror, DPO Murree Raza Tanveer confirmed that it is a clear case of murder.

He said the body had deep injuries on the throat inflicted by a sharp weapon. The body has been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination. The final cause and time of death will be confirmed after the report.

DPO Raza Tanveer further told Minute Mirror that a special investigation team has been constituted and all angles are being probed.

According to an official part of the investigation team who spoke to Minute Mirror, three lines of investigation are active:

First, the CCTV footage of the guest house and nearby streets is being obtained to trace who entered and exited the building in the last 48 hours.

Second, the entry register and CNIC record of the guest house is being checked. In many private guest houses of Murree, complete data is not maintained.

Third, the mobile phone and last contacts of the deceased are being traced to find out who was in touch with the victim before the murder.

The Unregulated Guest House Empire of Murree

This murder has once again exposed the dark side of Murree’s tourism industry.

Every season, hundreds of private homes, flats and apartments are converted into guest houses without any proper license, police verification, or security system. Anyone can walk in, give cash, and get a room. No CNIC verification, no CCTV, no security guard.

This is why incidents of theft, fraud, hidden cameras and now murder are increasing in Murree.

Police officials admit privately that they don’t even have complete data of how many guest houses are currently operating in Murree.

Why Transgender Community Is More Vulnerable

The transgender community in Pakistan is already living on the edge. They face social boycott, threats, blackmail and physical violence. Many are called to private functions and parties in hill stations.

Police is investigating whether this murder is a result of personal enmity, a monetary dispute, blackmail, or a dispute over some private gathering.

The community leaders in Rawalpindi and Islamabad have demanded a transparent and quick investigation, saying that in the past, cases involving transgender persons are either not registered properly or are delayed.

Questions That Murree Police Must Answer

Where is the murder weapon? Was it taken away by the killer or hidden inside the guest house?

If the victim was staying for two days, who were the last persons who visited the room?

And most importantly, when will the district administration create a centralized registration and regulation system for all guest houses in Murree with mandatory CNIC record, CCTV and police verification?

Right now, a room is sealed. Blood stains are on the floor. A forensic report is awaited. And a family, wherever they are, is waiting for a call that their loved one is no more.
