MURREE: A transgender person was found dead inside a private guest house in Murree, with injuries to the throat reportedly caused by a sharp-edged weapon, prompting police to launch a murder investigation.

The deceased, whose identity had not been officially established at the time of reporting, had reportedly been staying at the guest house for the past two days. Police said the body was discovered inside the room after the guest house administration became concerned when the occupant failed to respond to repeated knocks or come out of the room.

Talking exclusively to Minute Mirror, District Police Officer (DPO) Murree Raza Tanveer confirmed the incident and said investigators had secured the crime scene for forensic examination.

According to the DPO, police received information about the death and found visible injuries on the victim’s throat. The scene was immediately cordoned off, while forensic teams collected evidence from the room. The body was subsequently shifted for post-mortem examination, with the final cause and circumstances of death to be determined through the medico-legal report.

Police sources said investigators were examining the guest house’s entry and exit records and questioning individuals who may have met or communicated with the deceased before the incident. CCTV footage from the guest house and surrounding areas has also been obtained to establish the victim’s movements and identify people who may have visited the room.

Forensic personnel collected fingerprints, blood samples and other material evidence from the scene for laboratory analysis. Investigators are also examining whether the injuries were inflicted with a weapon recovered from or linked to the crime scene.

DPO Raza Tanveer said a special investigation team had been constituted and that investigators were examining multiple possible motives, including personal disputes, blackmail and financial disagreements.

Police are also reviewing the deceased’s recent phone calls, mobile data and contacts to reconstruct the victim’s final movements and establish who may have been in contact with them before the death.

The DPO said the investigation was proceeding on merit and that efforts were underway to identify and apprehend the suspect or suspects. A case has been registered, while further investigation and forensic analysis are continuing.
