Christina Applegate has given fans a candid glimpse into her life as she continues to navigate the challenges of living with multiple sclerosis.
The Married… With Children star recently took to Instagram to share a video showing off her latest hair transformation. While proudly displaying her newly dyed blonde hair, Applegate also drew attention to an unusual mark that had appeared on her cheek.
In the video, the 54-year-old actress posed casually in a pair of jeans and a black zip-up hoodie that slipped slightly off one shoulder. She turned her head to the side as she showed off her fresh, bright blonde hair, giving followers a closer look at the new colour.
However, the actress also appeared to have a darker spot on her cheek, which quickly became noticeable in the clip.
“Fresh hair color, new weird spot on my cheek haha,” Applegate wrote in the caption.
She then thanked her longtime hairstylist Dave Stanwell for helping brighten her mood with the new look.
“Thank you @davestanwell for brightening up my cloudy day. Love you and love to you all out there,” she added.
Applegate later shared another selfie on her Instagram Stories, once again making the discoloration on her cheek visible. She did not provide any further details about the mark or explain what may have caused it.
The actress’s candid post comes as she continues to openly share aspects of her personal life and her experience with multiple sclerosis, a condition she was diagnosed with in 2021.
Since revealing her diagnosis, Applegate has been increasingly open about the physical challenges associated with the neurological condition. She has discussed how MS has affected her everyday life, including her mobility, energy levels and ability to carry out simple tasks.
In her memoir, You With the Sad Eyes, Applegate reflected on the difficult realities of waking up with MS and described how the condition can affect her ability to move.
She explained that there are times when she struggles to move her arm far enough to reach for everyday items, including a glass of water beside her bed or her phone.
The actress has also spoken about the severe exhaustion that comes with her condition. She described fatigue as one of the most difficult effects of MS, comparing the feeling to going several days without sleep.
Despite the challenges, Applegate has continued to maintain a connection with her fans and has used social media to share both lighthearted and personal moments from her life.
Her journey with MS has also changed the way she approaches public appearances. Following her diagnosis, she made her first major public appearance in November 2022 when she attended her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.
At the event, Applegate was supported by friends, family and colleagues as she celebrated the career milestone.
Since then, she has continued speaking honestly about life with MS while maintaining her sense of humour and personality.
Her latest Instagram posts similarly offered a mixture of humour and vulnerability, with Applegate joking about the unexpected mark on her cheek while celebrating her fresh hairstyle.
Although she has not revealed what caused the spot, her decision to mention it highlights the candid approach she has taken when discussing her life and health with her followers.
