FCCI corporate class polling concludes

FAISALABAD: The first phase of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) elections for the 2026-28 term concluded on Monday with polling for the corporate class, in which 17 candidates contested 14 seats.

According to unofficial and provisional results announced by the FCCI Election Commission, 14 candidates secured enough votes to win seats in the corporate class.

Arif Ehsan Malik of Al-Ghani International topped the poll with 607 votes, followed by Muhammad Babar Shahzad of Babar Shahzad & Saqib Shahzad with 587 votes. Muhammad Yasin of Legacy Textiles secured 585 votes, while Ahmad Bilal of Moon Textile Industries received 584 votes.

Kashif Ahmad Aslam Zia of Lahore Fashions obtained 573 votes, while Ahsan Ul Haq of Al-Haq Exports (Pvt) Ltd secured 576 votes. Tanveer Ahmed Afaq of Furniture Holz received 570 votes, followed by Javed Ahmed of Khawaja Sons with 568 votes.

Farhan Tufail of Invictus Solutions (Pvt) Ltd secured 564 votes, while Imran Latif of Imran Food Products received 562 votes. Hunain Hamid of Habib Calico Weaving Industries (Pvt) Ltd and Sajid Qayyum Khan of S.S Fabrics (Pvt) Ltd each secured 553 votes.

Shahid Hanif Ghouri of New Sardar Sizing Industries obtained 548 votes, while Syed Muratab Ali Shah of Syed Dyeing Works secured 515 votes.

The four candidates who failed to secure seats included Haleem Akhtar of Bismillah Fabrics with 233 votes, Muhammad Azhar Hussain of Metal Art Exporters with 180 votes and Waqas Sohail of Cotton Field with 172 votes.

The successful candidates — Arif Ehsan Malik, Kashif Ahmad Aslam Zia, Muhammad Yasin, Muhammad Babar Shahzad, Ahsan Ul Haq, Ahmad Bilal, Farhan Tufail, Tanveer Ahmed Afaq, Javed Ahmed, Imran Latif, Hunain Hamid, Sajid Qayyum Khan, Shahid Hanif Ghouri and Syed Muratab Ali Shah — will serve for a two-year term.

The FCCI Election Commission, comprising Atif Munir Sheikh, Muzammil Sultan and Chaudhary Muhammad Nawaz, said 747 votes were cast out of a total 1,428 votes. Nineteen ballots were rejected, leaving 728 valid votes.

The polling process remained peaceful and orderly, while no candidate raised an objection regarding the conduct of the election. Lawyers, journalists and civil society representatives also visited the chamber and appreciated the Election Commission for conducting the polling in a transparent and impartial manner.

The Election Commission later announced the provisional results and congratulated the successful candidates.

The second phase of the FCCI elections, involving the associate class, is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Addressing the successful candidates and their supporters, Mian Muhammad Adrees expressed satisfaction over what he described as a sweeping victory for candidates nominated by the National Group.

He said the business community had once again expressed confidence in the National Group’s leadership and praised its efforts to serve traders and industrialists with dedication and commitment.

Supporters of the victorious candidates celebrated outside the chamber by garlanding the winners and dancing to drumbeats following the announcement of the results.
