A six year old girl in China has made headlines by setting a new world record for solving a Rubik’s Cube at an incredible speed.
The young girl Lian Yunzi, achieved the record during competitions held in Wuhan and Guangzhou over three days. She solved the Rubik’s Cube five times during the events.
In one competition she recorded an average time of 4.52 seconds while in another she improved her average to just 4.27 seconds. This made her the fastest female Rubik’s Cube solver in the record category.
Hours of Practice
Lian who is from Chengdu in China’s Sichuan province, had spent the past year practicing regularly. She reportedly practiced solving the cube for two to three hours every day.
Her mother, Lan Yangshi, introduced her daughter to the Rubik’s Cube. She said that over time she realized the activity could help children develop important skills.
According to her mother solving the puzzle can help improve focus, memory logical thinking and mental skills.
Breaking the previous record
Before Lian’s achievement the record was held by Sixian Cao, who solved a Rubik’s Cube in 5.97 seconds at the age of six in 2023. Lian’s latest performance has now set a new benchmark for young Rubik’s Cube solvers.
