Pakistan kabaddi and hockey teams secure second Asian Games wins

NAGOYA: Pakistan continued its winning momentum at the 2026 Asian Games on Tuesday as both the national kabaddi and hockey teams secured their second victories of the competition.

The back-to-back wins provided an encouraging boost for Pakistan, with the kabaddi side overcoming Nepal in a high-scoring Group B contest while the hockey team produced a convincing 5-1 victory over Uzbekistan.

Pakistan dominate Nepal in kabaddi

Pakistan’s kabaddi team maintained its strong start by defeating Nepal 58-43 in their second Group B match.

The victory followed Pakistan’s impressive opening-day 65-22 win over Malaysia, giving the team two victories from two matches.

The Pakistani players maintained pressure throughout the contest and eventually secured another important result in their bid to progress from the group stage.

Pakistan are competing in Group B alongside Iran, Nepal, Thailand and Malaysia. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

The kabaddi competition is being held in Aichi Prefecture as part of the 20th Asian Games, which officially opened in Japan on September 19.

Hockey team delivers another strong performance

Pakistan’s men’s hockey team also made it two wins in a row, defeating Uzbekistan 5-1 in their second group-stage fixture.

The result came after Pakistan opened its Asian Games campaign with an emphatic 9-0 victory over Thailand, giving the team a perfect start to the tournament.

Pakistan’s goals against Uzbekistan came from Sufyan Khan, who scored twice, while Muhammad Imad, Abdul Rehman and Abu Bakar added one goal each.

The five-goal performance underlined Pakistan’s attacking intent as the team continued its campaign in Pool B. The International Hockey Federation confirmed the 5-1 result, with the match played at the Kawasaki Juko Stadium in Japan.

With both teams now having two wins under their belts, Pakistan’s campaign has gained early momentum across two of its traditional team sports.

The focus will now shift to their upcoming group-stage fixtures, where further victories could strengthen Pakistan’s position in the race for the knockout rounds and ultimately the medals.

For Pakistan, the message from the opening matches is clear: both the kabaddi and hockey teams have started the Asian Games with confidence—and neither appears ready to slow down.
