Shakira thanks global fans after Madrid residency opener

Shakira has thanked fans from around the world for travelling to Madrid to watch her perform as she kicked off her 12-show residency at Macondo Park.

The singer shared a series of photographs from the opening night of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour residency on Instagram on Saturday, September 19. The images showed her performing before a large crowd at the specially created venue.

In her message, Shakira expressed appreciation for fans who had travelled from different countries to attend the shows. She also highlighted the unique experience prepared for concertgoers, saying she had created an entire city for them to explore and enjoy alongside the performances.

The Madrid residency began on September 18 and will continue through October 11 at Macondo Park, part of the Iberdrola Music venue in Madrid’s Villaverde district.

Macondo Park has been designed as more than a traditional concert venue. The entertainment complex features themed areas inspired by music, food, literature, fashion and different stages of Shakira’s career.

The concept takes inspiration from Macondo, the fictional town featured in Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez’s acclaimed novel One Hundred Years of Solitude.

Shakira’s post quickly attracted widespread attention online, with hundreds of thousands of likes and numerous fans praising her performance and the overall concert experience.

The opening show featured songs spanning different stages of the singer’s career, combining her recent releases with some of her older favourites.

The Madrid residency marks another major stop on Shakira’s ongoing world tour, with fans expected to attend the remaining performances over the coming weeks.
