KARACHI: The Sindh Healthcare Commission has launched an investigation into a woman’s delivery case at a private hospital in Nazimabad, Karachi, following a complaint submitted by the patient.

According to the Sindh Healthcare Commission, SSP Central wrote to the commission after receiving the patient’s complaint and requested its cooperation in investigating the incident.

The commission has decided to constitute a technical board comprising medical experts to examine the circumstances surrounding the case. The board will review available evidence and assess the medical procedures and circumstances related to the woman’s delivery.

As part of the investigation, the technical board will also record statements from all relevant parties including the concerned staff members and witnesses. The commission said that the statements and available evidence would be carefully examined before conclusions are reached.

Following completion of the investigation, the technical board will prepare its findings and recommendations. The purpose of the inquiry is to establish the facts of the case and determine whether any professional or procedural issues occurred during the patient’s treatment.

The Sindh Healthcare Commission said the investigation would be conducted under the provisions of the Sindh Healthcare Commission Act. In accordance with the law the final report is expected to be completed within 120 days.

The development comes after concerns were raised regarding the woman’s treatment at the private hospital in Nazimabad. The involvement of the healthcare regulatory authority is expected to provide an independent assessment of the incident.

The commission’s technical experts will examine the available evidence before making recommendations. Statements from the hospital staff, witnesses and other relevant parties will also form part of the investigation.

Authorities have not yet disclosed detailed findings regarding the incident, and the investigation is still at an initial stage. Any responsibility or negligence if established will depend on the findings of the technical board and the final report.

The Sindh Healthcare Commission’s inquiry is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the delivery case and determine whether the healthcare facility followed the required medical and professional standards.

The final report, to be completed within 120 days under the applicable law will contain the commission’s findings and recommendations after the evidence and statements have been reviewed.
