TEHRAN: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held separate meetings with delegations from Hamas and Hezbollah in Tehran, reaffirming Iran’s continued political support for groups opposing Israel and discussing regional developments.
According to Arab media reports, the meetings focused on the evolving security situation in the Middle East and ongoing efforts related to the conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon.
During his discussions with the Hamas delegation, Araghchi reiterated Iran’s commitment to supporting what Tehran describes as resistance against Israeli military actions. He said Iran would continue backing efforts aimed at confronting what it called Israeli aggression.
The Iranian foreign minister also met representatives of Hezbollah, where the talks centered on the situation in Lebanon and the implementation of understandings aimed at reducing hostilities along the Israel-Lebanon border.
According to the reports, Araghchi said Iran would continue supporting efforts to end the conflict in Lebanon in line with the provisions of an existing memorandum of understanding. He emphasized the importance of diplomatic engagement to help restore stability while maintaining support for Lebanon’s security.
The meetings come at a time of heightened tensions across the Middle East, with regional powers closely monitoring developments in Gaza, southern Lebanon and other flashpoints. Diplomatic activity has intensified in recent weeks as governments seek to prevent further escalation while pursuing political solutions to ongoing conflicts.
Iran has consistently maintained close political ties with both Hamas and Hezbollah, viewing them as key members of what it describes as the “Axis of Resistance.” Israel, the United States and several other countries, however, accuse Iran of providing support that contributes to regional instability, an allegation Tehran has repeatedly defended within the context of its regional policies.
Analysts say the latest meetings highlight Iran’s continuing efforts to coordinate with its regional allies while balancing diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing the risk of a broader confrontation.
No additional details were released regarding specific agreements or future joint actions following the talks. However, the meetings underscore Tehran’s intention to remain actively involved in regional political and security developments.
As diplomatic contacts continue across the Middle East, international observers are watching closely to see whether renewed negotiations and regional engagement can help ease tensions or whether the ongoing conflicts will lead to further instability in the region.
