Six terrorists killed in Balochistan intelligence-based operation

QUETTA: Security forces have killed six suspected terrorists and arrested nine other individuals during an intelligence-based operation in Saran Tangi, Balochistan, according to state media.

The operation was carried out under Operation Shaban-2 following intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the area.

Security sources said the operation targeted members of the group referred to by the state as Fitna al Hindustan. A substantial quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered during the action.

Officials said security forces were continuing a clearance operation in the area. They vowed to maintain operations until the militant threat was eliminated.

President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security personnel involved in the operation and commended their bravery and professional skills.

The president said the security forces had successfully prevented the militants from carrying out their alleged plans. He added that Pakistan’s campaign against terrorism linked by the authorities to foreign interference would continue.

Zardari said groups referred to as Fitna al Hindustan and their alleged facilitators would not be allowed to undermine peace and stability in the country.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the security forces for the operation. In a statement, he said the personnel had successfully foiled what he described as the militants’ plans.

The latest operation comes amid continued security operations against militant groups in Balochistan and other parts of the country. Authorities have pledged to maintain intelligence-based actions against militants and disrupt their networks.
