Two young men lost their lives after drowning in a mini dam on Adiala Road in Rawalpindi, while four people were injured in a separate traffic accident on Chak Beli Khan Road. Rescue 1122 responded to both emergencies and provided immediate assistance.
According to rescue officials, the drowning incident occurred near Jani Mor in the RVS Society area along Adiala Road, within the jurisdiction of Saddar Bairooni Police Station. The victims, identified as 24-year-old Hilal and 19-year-old Zeeshan, were reportedly swimming in the mini dam when they entered deep water and were unable to return to safety.
Emergency responders from Rescue 1122 reached the scene shortly after receiving the alert. Rescue personnel recovered both individuals from the water and immediately performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before transporting them to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, doctors pronounced both men dead upon arrival.
The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of swimming in deep or unsupervised water bodies, particularly during the summer season when many people visit rivers, dams, and lakes to escape the heat. Authorities frequently advise the public to avoid swimming in areas where water depth and currents may pose serious risks.
In a separate incident on the same day, four people were injured in a collision involving a dumper truck and a passenger car near Bahal Chowk on Chak Beli Khan Road, close to Jorian.
Rescue 1122 teams quickly arrived at the accident site, provided first aid to the injured, and shifted all four victims to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Hospital officials reported that the injured individuals were in stable condition and were believed to be out of danger.
Police have launched separate inquiries into both incidents. Officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning and the road collision to determine the causes and whether any negligence or traffic violations were involved.
Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution while visiting water bodies and to follow road safety regulations to help prevent similar tragedies. They also encouraged the public to immediately contact emergency services in the event of accidents or other emergencies.
The two incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of public safety awareness, particularly during the busy summer season when outdoor activities and road travel increase across the region.
