Thompson is now awake and breathing without assistance, according to his representative, Jami Schlicher. She said the comedian remains in hospital under close medical supervision and is continuing to recover.

His representative added that Thompson is surrounded by family and people close to him during his recovery. She also said that humor remains an important part of his personality and that he has continued sharing light moments with medical staff caring for him.

The incident has affected Thompson’s long-running Las Vegas residency. Five of his scheduled performances at the Luxor have been cancelled following his hospitalization.

Meanwhile, court documents have brought another development into the case. Thompson’s attorney, Ronnie Bitman, has alleged that musician Brian Evans attempted to obtain $500,000 from the comedian in connection with an intimate video.

According to the legal filing, Evans allegedly demanded payment and threatened that the video could become part of a public court record if the money was not provided.

Evans has denied threatening to make the video public. He said the recording had already been deleted a long time ago.

In comments following Thompson’s hospitalization, Evans expressed concern for the comedian and said he hoped Thompson would recover. He described Thompson as a talented performer and said he did not want to cause further harm to him.

The latest developments come as Thompson remains under medical care. His condition has reportedly improved, although he continues to receive treatment in hospital.
